Flash Animation Workshops

January 14th, 2012

I’m helping out again this year with some Flash Animation workshops at the State Library. Aimed at kids 9-12 and 12-16 during the school holidays, the kids are discovering how to use Flash to create their own animated masterpiece. I’m assisting the great Lucas Thyer of Pixelframe who is taking the workshop together with two Animation students of QCA.

Powderfinger Empty Space

October 23rd, 2011

I just finished work on this music video for Powderfinger, this previously unreleased song is their last ever single and music video to be released on: Footprints: The Best Of Powderfinger (2001-2011).

Animated using a combination of cut-out papers traditional animation and digital tools we aimed at creating an interesting look that accompanies the narrative throughout the emotional arc of the song.

This project was unique in many ways and I am very thankful to all the crew that helped bring the concept to life, I will share some of the process with you soon but in the meantime I hope you enjoy the finished piece:

Le Mouv’

July 18th, 2011

Le Mouv’ is a French Radio Station which hosts a whole array of nice shows; one of them is a 2-hour program called ‘Le Forum’ which is animated by the Radio Maestro: Eric Lange. The concept of the show is to create a network of people around the world, preferably French speaking and talk about their lives, projects, travels and experiences . I have been following this show previously known as ‘ Allo la Planete’ for years now and talked to Eric a few times.

Listening to the show both gets me into the working/productive ‘vibe’  (that we all have a few hours of, during a typical day) and allows me to travel and learn things at the same time. There’s something very special about the radio format, that allows you to use your imagination alot more than TV for example, where you are passively absorbing information. It’s like reading a book in a way, you have to fill the gaps. After listening for so long I have made a picture in my head of what happens behind the scenes, after a while this picture had to be put on paper, here is the result from rough to complete picture, a small token of appreciation for the ‘Le forum’ team.
